It is currently 11:57pm and I am up
I really needed to eat so I had to get up even though I wanted to drift asleep. Thanks to the nagging of a friend of mine - I got up, made a sandwich, did laundry, took out the garbage, took off some old nail polish an got inspired to blog while browsing some articles.
...yea
There are so many 'new' things happening right now and I am a bit sad that I didn't get to 'record' it. I realize I have been placing too much importance on appearance of this blog, so much so that I'm not enjoying it.
As I sit here listening to 95.1, I am quietly making plans in my head for this space; the inconsistency is so apparent. But with these new changes, I'm once again inspired. My main issue is time management. I believe that if I really settle down and focus I can go really far. Maybe I am playing a 'wait it out' time game to make sure that I can claim it for what it is and it isn't jus a past time. As I typed that, I remembered the saying in the poster below
So! I'll stand one again!
*fingers crossed*

Updating ipsy - July 2014
ipsy July 2014 - Sensationally SunKissed
Wow! Now that's a pink bag!
There was no doubt that you'd miss July's bag - the pink is electrifying!
Here's a breakdown of the items:
bareMinerals 5-in-1 BB Advance Performance Cream Eyeshadow Broad Spectrum 15
How tiny! But a little goes a long way. The shade doesn't really do anything for me, but its cute enough to add to my collection
Befine Food Skin Care Daily Moisturizer with SPF 15
Nice sample size, nice to keep handy as a quick moisturizer.
Hang Ten Dark Tanning Oil SPF 08
Now ...what am I to do with tanning oil? Hmm
Pixi Beauth Mini Tinted Brilliance Balm
Lovely balm to add to my collection!
wHet Nail Polish in Facetious
This is a very vibrant blue. It applies nicely (2 coats in pic below)
So that was my July's bag - What did you get?

Updating Birchbox - July 2014
Here's July 2014 Birchbox items:
This month, Birchbox teamed up with Women's Health Magazine and provided this booklet with
The booklet included some challenges like:
-Write it down: keeping a log of activities to motivate and to push yourself further
-Part your hair differently
-Eat veggies for breakfast
-Get out of your color comfort zone
Now for a breakdown of the items:
Number 4™ Super Comb Prep & Protect
Yet to try - but a lovely scent and looks like I may get one or 2 uses from this.
Real Chemistry Luminous 3-Minute Peel
I'm still not too sure abut using this product - maybe its the words 'chemistry' and 'peel' is throwing me off. I will try it soon ...or maybe pass it on to some one
Balance Me Wonder Eye Cream
Yet to try this one as well - a little bit nervous on how things may react on me maybe. But, I have been looking for an eye cream that will deal with my 'lack of sleep' eyes.
Stay tuned...
Coastal Scents® Revealed 2 Palette Set
I LOVE this palette! My only complaint is the packaging as it makes storage an issue. Keeping it in the box may lead to forgetting it's even there!
Needless to say - this is a beautiful collection for any time of day on caramel skin!
100% Pure Gingerade Shower Gel (Honey Cream Wash)
Ah! these one time use foil packets! *grumbles*
I am no fan of ginger - so maybe its a good thing I got 2 little packets so I can give one away
(or both!)

Updating ipsy - June 2014
ipsy June 2014 - Pretty in Paradise:
What a cute bag! Love it! This month's bag was designed by Rebecca Minkoff
(See her tweet about the bag here)
Now for the loot:
Marc Anthony - Dream Waves Beach Spray
I'm liking this product. It was easy to put together a hairstyle when my hair didn't want to co-operate with me. Just spray and scrunch hair and you're good to go!
NYX - Butter Gloss (in the shade apple strudel)
Liking the gloss - but the shade is not to my liking :(
clariSEA - Sea Salt Solutions Rapid Detox Charcoal Exfoliant
How ...interesting. According to ipsy's description, this scrub exfoliates with the activated Bamboo Charcoal and deep cleans your pores taking away oil and dirt; while helping with breakouts with Pacific & Himalayan Sea Salt.
I'm yet to actually try it...
Jesse's Girl - Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner
Always love getting eyeliners :)
Laneige - BB Cushion
Ok - so, I don't even know how to start with this item. I still haven't opened it as yet.
The product promises to hydrate, brighten and correct skin color giving you a flawless look. We'll see how it works when I try it

Below I have 5 links of ipsy June reviews. A lot of users have vlogs (video blogs) of the unboxing of the items which are pretty cool to check out as well

Updating Birchbox - June 2014
Here's my June 2014 Birchbox items in all its glory:
Shipping via Websource came in at $83TT - mainly due to the weight of the shampoo - ouch!
This month, Birchbox's theme was Away We Go
They provided a quiz (booklet below) and an opportunity to win a trip from JetBlue. Unfortunately, it was only applicable to US citizens
Close up of the items:
Vasanti BrightenUp! Enzymatic Face Rejuvenator
Seems like a miracle product when I read the product description. Papaya enzymes to break down dead cells; aloe vera, coconut, vitamins B & E to keep skin fresh - definitely need to put this to the test
Folle de Joie eau de parfum
A 3.4 fl oz of this will cost you $98.00 US. Folle de Joie translates to "crazy with joy"; and it brings a woodsey floral scent with hints of jasmine as described by Birchbox.
I didn't gravitate towards it - I prefer more sweet and fruity scents. I actually edited my Birchbox profile so I won't receive perfume samples. I prefer to search for that perfect match and stick with it (for as long as I can)
LAQA & Co. Sheer Lip Lube Pencil
The tip came off and caused a bit of mess. But this color/shade of purple is definitely something I'm not brave enough to wear ...in public ...on my lips.
Oh well - Halloween is coming up :P
Davines Love Smoothing Shampoo; Davines Love Smoothing Conditioner; Davines OI / All in One Milk
The scent of the shampoo threw me off a bit. On reading the label - it's probably the scent of the Indian fig extract. As for the conditioner and the milk - it's in these little packets that I do not like.
I'm yet to try it
Supergoop!® Everyday SPF 30 with Cellular Response Technology, 18 oz.
Supergoop Supergoop Supergoop - another sunscreen to pop into a bag
(who gets excited about sunscreen? ...not me)

That's it for June'14 for Birchbox.

Happy International Coffee Day All!!!
I definitely have been behind in updating here - and hopefully I'll get all the boxes and bags updated today (...once I defeat the Monday blues)
*sips coffee*
Thoughts while having coffee...
One thing I have been on the fence about is how personal this blog should be. In the past it was very easy to blog and express thoughts and events on my personal life; now not so much. Fear of being judged maybe? I still suffer from the complex of thinking what others may think of my actions - after all, I am held accountable to it. How much should we really put 'on-line'?
But! As I have my coffee today (on this special day), I remind myself that this is exactly what this space is suppose to provide - an outlet, as well as a tool to help me improve in some areas.
So - look forward to some more posts (fingers crossed?) ...lol
In the meantime, have a warm cup of love and celebrate International Coffee Day with me
*cheers*

I blame sports
...well, 'blame' is a strong word - isn't it?
But I have been engrossed into first World Cup 2014, and now CPLT20 action.
The World Cup was amazing - I'm not a football fan by any means, I don't know the history of the players, what club they play for and all the details. But what I saw when I started watching was amazing - the ability of the players was just enough. I thought - these are not men, but super humans.
The CPLT20 started last year and I saw it as an opportunity to learn more about the game (and the same with football). I was absolutely in love by it all, even going to games that were in Trinidad! Now the games are happening again - taking up my attention :)
It wonderful to see the athleticism - amazing actually. I still wish that I was more involved back in school days. As for now, I'm taking in the sights and sounds ...and the energy of the games.
Will update again soon ...in the meanwhile - cricket!
xoxo

Great Finds - Jewelry Holder
I visited The Home Store (located on Sixth Avenue, Barataria) some time ago and I had to publish this find!
Price: $89.99 TT (or $14.00US average)
I jus threw a few items on to see how it looks :)
I was super excited because I currently have my jewelry in a shoe box - ...not that pretty. Having these items on jus shows me that I'll need to get more accommodating storage if my shopping continues :)
The awesome thing about this is that it's detachable - a draw, a ring tray as well as an earring rack. Makes sense - cause you easily retrieve the earring that you decide on or even totally separate the pieces to how you like
I was looking for a similar item to compare price. The only thing I found was from Aliexpress for $34.99 US ...wow. Here's a picture from that site with the parts detached:
Do you like? I know I do :)

Birchbox - May 2014
After what seemed like forever - I finally got my Birchbox! ...and after some more time - I'm finally making this post!
I emailed the Birchbox team explaining that I was yet to get my box for May and I was concerned about this delay. The responded in a day's time to let me know that they will be sending a replacement.
This month came with a noticeable color change; instead of the regular pink, it came in yellow. The theme: Freewheeling
(Click on the image below for a better view!)
The items this month:
Now for the breakdown of items. I have included the break down according to Birchbox's site, and hopefully in time I can give a better review of how the items worked. Truthfully, the novelty of the subscription box wore off. I had the Smarty Pants gummy vitamins ...and it was jus ...ok, but I can see how it can work in my favor for taking supplements - pretend it's snacks! - lol. The Lifetherapy Lotion was another good item - loved the scent of 'chill'.
Here are the items:
Lifetherapy Hydrating Body Lotion (received sample in scent Chill)
Birchbox Breakdown
If you’re scrambling to meet a deadline or cramming for midterms, vacation may feel, well, really far away. We can’t promise you a trip to paradise, but we can guarantee a few (superhydrating) moments of Zen. Close your eyes, and these spa-quality body lotions will teleport you to a beach in Tulum or the jungles of Bali. All that’s missing is the hammock.
How it Works
A blend of rich shea butter, sunflower seed oil, almond oil, and aloe leaf leaves skin smooth, hydrated, and glowing, (but not greasy!). Choose between Chill, a calming blend of citrus, amber, rose, and vanilla, or Vacation, which has sultry notes of Polynesian coconut, white orchid, warm sugar, and sandalwood.
Whish Shave Crave Shaving Cream (received sample in Acai Grapefruit)
Birchbox Breakdown
This decadent shave cream from whish one-ups its competitors. Made in the U.S. with eco-friendly ingredients, the non-drying formula gives you a mighty close shave without leaving legs devoid of moisture. And, unlike its distant peers, it’s designed not to foam up: instead, the rich lotion is chock full of organic and natural botanicals that soften skin.
How it Works
A moisturizing base of omega-rich squalene, organic shea butter, jojoba oil, and coconut oil protects against the redness and irritation associated with shaving, while organic green tea extracts infuse skin with antioxidants.
SmartyPants All-in-One Gummy Vitamins for Adults
Birchbox Breakdown
Some of our favorite childhood treats were stealthily nutritious, from whole wheat blueberry pancakes shaped-to-order to chewy vitamins that were (as far as we were concerned) an excuse to start our day with candy. These days, we’re happy eating regular-shaped breakfast—but we’re as delighted as ever by gummy vitamins (which, like us, are now all grown up). They’re packed with 10 key nutrients, independently tested for purity, and made without artificial sweeteners, flavors, or dyes—though they’re so delicious, we tend to think of them less as a dietary supplement and more as a guaranteed dessert.
How it Works
These gumdrop-shaped vitamins combine the major nutrients of a multivitamin, a vitamin D supplement, and an omega-3 supplement—streamlining a daily series of pills into a single (way more delicious) type of supplement. They’re formulated with organic ingredients, and designed to make the nutrients they contain bioavailable—meaning they’re easy for your body to access and use.
Marcelle New·Age 8 in 1 Power Serum
Birchbox Breakdown
When inquiring with a Magic 8 Ball about the youth-preserving power of this serum, we have a feeling the answer “Yes” or “Without a Doubt” would appear. This peptide-packed antiaging gel starts to work in just a week, providing eight transformative benefits in one tube. Skin is left looking more youthful, even, and radiant.
How it Works
It’s called a power serum for a reason: The lightweight formula boasts five peptides, the amino acids that amp up collagen production and improve elasticity, plus xylitol, a natural sugar alcohol that helps skin retain moisture. These potent ingredients work in eight great ways. When it comes to lines, they smooth, provide a filling effect, and visibly reduce even deep wrinkles. They also firm, lift, and strengthen, while working to boost radiance and improve the texture of your complexion. Even better? It does all of this without parabens or fragrance.
Jouer Luminizing Moisture Tint (received sample in Deep Bronze)
Birchbox Breakdown
Our entire team (minus the manfolk) is obsessed with Jouer’s Luminizing Moisture Tint and we're not alone — Allure recently gave the product its coveted "Best in Beauty" seal. The oil-free formula feels positively weightless on but gives you plenty of even coverage. Skin looks soft and dewy and, thanks to SPF 20, you’ll be extra protected from the sun.
How it Works
The formula has light-diffusing minerals, which give skin a soft glow and also smooth over any fine lines. Antioxidants like ginseng and gingko biloba leaf extract help improve skin, and SPF 20 wards off UVA and UVB rays.
